Banknote images cannot be freely used for any purpose. Some banknote designs are in the public domain, others are copyrighted. In janeriks wiki banknote images are used to inform about the banknote(s) in question, we consider this to fall within the normal rights of non-copyright owners as fair use. The use of such images to create copies of notes are a criminal offence, unless the copies make it abundantly clear that they are copies and not "the real thing". While it is doubtful according to Norwegian law that a banknote scan in itself can be copyrighted, we have a policy of not publishing scans unless the owner of the scan itself permits it.
